Friday Morning Rounds

I made a quick round Friday Morning. The heavy rain forecast never materialized. Lots of pelicans at both rivers. Did not like what I saw below Kentucky Dam as a pelican was hung in fishing line again. This pelican in the third photo appeared to have had a fishing line cast over it. It did fly off with a sinker on its back and trailing line. My pics only good enough to see that. It happened fast and was not sure when I noticed the pelican sort of floundering, thought at first it was struggling to catch a sinking fish below it.Not sure if it had anything to do with the bird that had the fishing line and sinker but most all of the pelicans on that side of the river suddenly took to the air and left the river heading back up to the lake. It is possible I believe that the pelican could have been putting out some sort of distress signal.

Went to the eagles nest and caught one of the eagles flying out. Stayed on the bird well and sharing all but about 4 photos of the fly out as the other four were almost identical gliding shots. Sort of discouraged this morning by people. Many have a lack of respect for the other species of life we share the area with…

  1. It’s too bad to see pelicans and other birds all tangled in line. That’s one reason I don’t fish anymore. If someone did it on purpose then they shouldn’t even be out there.
    Fantastic shot of the geese!
