Birds in the yard are fun to watch when you can’t go away on an adventure. Almost every place I am birds are about for me to observe.
This morning I sat on our daughters porch for a few minutes watching the bluejays, cardinals, mockingbirds, and white throated sparrows shift from trees to grass entertaining me.
It does not take a lot to make me smile. Without any clouds against a blue sky to gaze at it was up to the birds to trigger my happy button.

I didn’t see the female cardinal in the sparrow shot the first few times I looked. Then BANG! There it was!
Jomegat,
I had trouble finding that bird in the viewfinder. The sparrow hopped in to the shot as I was focusing on the cardinal.
Other than the bluejay, I don’t see these birds much. Someday I need to sit still in the woods for awhile to see what I can see.
New Hampshire Gardener,
Most of the time the wait is not long. Only about 10 minutes or so before the woods come back alive. It helps to be near water and an edge area.
Thanks for the tip-I always seem to be near water of some sort.
New Hampshire Gardener,
You sound like me, give me some water around and I be happy.
