The Great Blue Heron are a favorite subject of mine. No matter where I go around water a Great Blue Heron is likely be around.
After landing this bird fluffed up and hunkered down to wait. The temperatures below freezing I bet the fishing was slow.

I think these are two of the best pictures I’ve seen of this bird. Just beautiful! That lens of yours is really something.

They are at times awkward looking then at times graceful. You should stop below Barkley or Kentucky dams sometimes and see them. They are there almost year round. During breeding season in early spring they may not be there.
