I wonder what he was thinking!

      Montucky,
The image is a composite from two photos I took one after the other. The kingfisher remained in the spot when we heard the balloon hissing. It is interesting to guess what the bird must have thought.

  2. I’m surprised the noise from the gas jet didn’t scare him off.

      New Hampshire Gardener,
The image is a combination of two photos taken one after the other with my long lens. The image makes the balloon appear a little closer than it was. The hissing was softer due to the distance and it caught ones attention but was not scary even though not expected.

I love it. It seems like you post pictures of birds that I need clarification on when I see them in my neighborhood. A kingfisher has appeared at the pond in front of my home. I wasnt sure if it was one or not but your picture verified it better than a field guide.

      Becca,
I enjoy the Kingfishers. Struggle to get close to them for great photos. They are one bird you hear many times before you see them. They have a sort of chuckling call as they race back and forth near water. I smile every time I hear one.
